Zet je schrap want hier komt ie: het iconische StarCraft-personage Tychus Findlay wordt namelijk gescheiden van zijn sigaar in Heroes of the Storm. Dit schandaal zet dan ook de hele Blizzard-, en in het bijzonder StarCraft-bevolking, in rep en roer.
“YES. We know smoking is bad, everybody does. BUT! it’s not Blizzard’s job to make sure we don’t do it anyway” is dan ook de verontwaardigde schreeuw van de trouwe fans op de explosieve Reddit thread op de Heroes of the Storm sub-Reddit.
Als je ooit StarCraft hebt gespeeld, dan weet je dat de sigaar een van de kenmerkende eigenschappen is van Tychus’ personaliteit. De vraag is dan ook waar de sigaar naartoe gespookt is...
Iemand van Blizzard gaf het antwoord: “Heroes of the Storm is a multi-region game with a teen rating. There are a magnitude of guidelines we have to be aware of,” vertelt hij. “From a development standpoint we prioritize making Heroes and Skins as utilitarian as possible, if a single model can be used in all regions, that’s a huge win for development."
“In the case of Tychus’ cigar there were regions where he wouldn’t be allowed to smoke. We have two options: Make 2 versions, one smoking, one non-smoking, or Remove the Cigar.”
Uiteraard koos Blizzard voor de tweede optie en werd de sigaar in de sigaarbak geramd...
