    Lightbulb Weird Science

"Maybe it was a dream, you know, a very weird, bizarre, vivid, erotic, wet, detailed dream. Maybe we have malaria."

"The time will come when diligent research over long periods will bring to light things that now lie hidden. A single life time, even though entirely devoted to research, would not be enough for the investigation of so vast a subject. . . . And so this knowledge will be unfolded through long successive ages. There will come a time when our descendants will be amazed that we we did not know things that are so plain to them. . . . Many discoveries are reserved for ages still to come, when memory of us will have been effaced. Our universe is a sorry little affair unless it has in it something for every age to investigate . . . . Nature does not reveal her mysteries once and for all." -Seneca, Natural Questions Book 7, c. first century

"We are at the very beginning of time for the human race. It is not unreasonable that we grapple with problems. But there are tens of thousands of years in the future. Our responsibility is to do what we can, learn what we can, improve the solutions, and pass them on." -Richard Feynman

CRISPR 2.0 Is Here, and It’s Way More Precise - MIT Technology Review
Single base editing zonder DNA te knippen!

In the Nature study, researchers were able to change an A into a G. Such a change would address about half the 32,000 known point mutations that cause disease.

To do it, they modified CRISPR so that it would target just a single base. The editing tool was able to rearrange the atoms in an A so that it instead resembled a G, tricking cells into fixing the other DNA strand to complete the switch. As a result, an A-T base pair became a G-C one. The technique essentially rewrites errors in the genetic code instead of cutting and replacing whole chunks of DNA.

That's some holy shit level of genius right there.

    Moest je niet mee zijn, onderstaande video is een goeie primer over de originele techniek;

Er zijn ondertussen al heel wat vreemde beesten mee gecreëerd en de eerste gene edits in menselijke embryos hebben we ondertussen ook gehad. Weird science today, surreal tomorrow!

The Nuclear family; People Power - Energy to burn.

    Heart Work

    Fuel pulses through the veins,
    heat radiates from our brains.

    Energy stored in liquid gold,
but how might one get a hold?

For fuel to go from heat to speed,
you must extract the work you need.

You'll have to rev up your old engine,
pump up muscle to feel the tension.

    Information travels down your nerves,
    extracted from someone else's curves.

When the heart grows fond of fine,
boot up your new production line.

Fission will break the cells apart,
but this mitosis nets you art.

As we revolve around our sun,
so they evolve to go and run.

Such fusion stokes the hottest fire,
No doubt consequences will be dire.

Now don't grow critical of your own,
Use coolant to keep the temper down.

The time will come the fun will end,
no matter what that won't bend.

    Sure you can shout,
    but in the end
    the power will go out.

    Science?
Komaan zeg.
Wij zijn geschapen naar Zijn evenbeeld.
