Nieuws van vandaag...
LA Noire developer shuttered - rumour | VG247
Whore of the Orient development on hold as staff are laid off ~ UpdateMultiple reports suggests the development group formerly known as Team Bondi has been let go after the LA Noire studio was unable to find a publisher for new project Whore of the Orient.
Player Attack and MCV both cite anonymous sources for the news.
Staff are said to have been let go, but the studio is yet to be formally closed. The reason for the closure is said to be that the developer could not find financial backing for Whore of the Orient. The project is not necessarily cancelled if its development team has been closed; it may be frozen until backing is secured and staff can be re-hired.
We don’t know much about Whore of the Orient; it was first announced in November 2011, possibly ahead of schedule. A few details about setting and plot slipped out of a website once, and it was expected on PlayStation 4 and the next Xbox console in 2015.
Team Bondi was led by Brendan McNamara. It went into administration in September 2011, four months after the release of LA Noire, with staff believed to have missed out on significant income as a result. Many of the studio’s assets were bought out by film production company Kennedy Miller Mitchell, and some staff also made the jump.
The team formerly responsible for LA Noire who were now over at Kennedy Miller Mitchell are reportedly out of the job.
KMM was working on a detective thriller set in 1936 entitled 'Whore of the Orient', which was likely to use Depth Analysis again for some incredible and high quality acted visuals.
The unconfirmed rumours which have come to MCV via multiple sources state that the development team is no longer working on the game, but the company itself has yet to formally shut down.
The game never officially landed a publisher, and was only alluded to via an ephemeral web site which gave a few sparse details on the game.
It cannot be 100% confirmed that the studio is closed for good while the company is still running - and presumably therefore, still seeking funding - but at least for the moment it looks like no development is continuing on the ambitious project.
[mcvpacific.com]Update: Doug Mitchell of Kennedy Miller Mitchell has offered a comment on the matter.
While he hasn't officially confirmed or denied the fates of the Sydney-based developers, he has made it quite clear that KMM isn't giving up on Whore of the Orient just yet.
Mitchell told MCV: "Whore of the Orient is a unique and extraordinary story and game, and we are still actively pursuing the right investor to partner with."
Given the team's previous work, there is little doubt the game has as much promise as Mitchell suggests, and it is certainly good to hear that, whatever may be happening at KMM's Sydney studio, there's still hope for the title yet.

Whore of the Orient development on hold as staff are laid off - Report - GameSpot.comWarner Bros., which never officially confirmed its involvement with the title despite its logo appearing on the game's site, backed away from a potential publishing deal "right before last Christmas", reports Superannuation.
Any deal with a new publisher is expected to be signed in April, reported one ex-worker. Development on the game is now said to be on hold.no votes

Team Bondi's Whore of the Orient Receives Funding - IGN
The Australian government has granted $200,000 to KMM, the production house that recently acquired the rights to Whore of the Orient. The company received this funding following the alleged dissolution of L.A. Noire developer Team Bondi, Game Informer reports. Ex-Team Bondi members, who formed Intuitive Game Studios, also received funding. Whore of the Orient was originally aiming for release between 2013 and 2015.
While hardly enough to create and complete a modern video game, the $200,000 provided to KMM by New South Wales' Interactive Media Fund could keep Whore of the Orient afloat until it finds an investor or publisher. The IMF is intended for "creative digital content projects that are commercially oriented and destined for distribution on web-enabled platforms or devices and interactive video game consoles...with the ability to benefit other sectors such as health, finance and education."
Team Bondi was never forthcoming with Whore of the Orient information prior to its closure, so it's uncertain how, exactly, the project will benefit any of those pieces of Australian infrastructure.no votes

$200,000 is inderdaad niet echt veel en het is te hopen dat ze toch nog een publisher vinden. En dan natuurlijk hopen dat dit een topper wordt en goed verkoopt.
