Finland removed from ENC
Yesterday the ENC announced that the Finnish Counter-Strike team would be removed from the ENC effective immediately. After having beaten Team Norway 16:14, the admins found out a aequitas, which is the ESL's own anticheat tool, file had been edited. As you can see here, Niko "naSu" Kovanen is named as the "cheater". There is no information available about what he exactly changed in his aequitas file but the ESL seem to be sure he cheated. This combined with the team not giving any statements or line-ups before their matches led to them gathering 14 penalty points, while 12 is the maximum amount allowed.
All matches from the Finnish team will now be erased and, thus, the group with Norway, France, Denmark, Poland and the UK will go on without the Fins.
Unfortunatly team Finland today reached the 12 penaltypoints limit as they currently have 14 penalty points and according to the ENC rules that means they are disqualified. All the matches from team Finland will be erased.
First of all they gathered 6 penalty points by not giving out statements and line ups on time. Added to this fact in the latest match a finish player manipulated an aequitas file wich lead to the finish team receiving another 6 penalty points reaching the limit of 12.
6.9 Half Life: Counterstrike 1.6 Tournament Match Penalties
If any National Team or National Team Player violates any of the rules, penalties can be given out by the ESL European Nations Championship Tournament Directors in the form of match forfeits or penalty points.
Should a participating National Team or National Team Player recieve 12 penalty points or more, they will be disquallified.
We regret it had to come to this but team Finland left us no other choice.
This is another huge controversy caused by Finnish players after several high profile players admitted to cheating in Clanbase ladder games in the past.
